Drama has been in Central Baptist Church for a long time but not in the magnitude it is currently being practiced. The vision to have a drama unit in the church was conceived by Evangelist Osagie Ekhator, after attending the Nigeria Baptist Convention drama workshop at Abeokuta in 2004. 

He shared the vision with his pastor, Rev. (Dr.) T. Olu Aibinnomo, who advised him to write to the church in conference on the issue. The letter was then written to the church in conference on the advantages of having a separate drama group different from other organizations in the church. 

This proposal was accepted during one of the church in conference meetings later that year and the church drama group was formally separated from the youth fellowship under which it was operating. The letter dated August 8th, 2004 was written by Evang. Osagie Ekhator.
